HISTORY TO COME ALIVE AT FIRST A.M.E. ZION CHURCH
Church celebrates 175 years of worship, praise and service to the community

PATERSON – September 10, 2009 - Members of First A.M.E. Zion Church will commemorate the church’s rich history on Sunday, September 13 at 11 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. The morning worship service will be held at 326 Ellison Street.

The event’s guest speaker will be Bishop Louis Hunter, Presiding Prelate of Mid Atlantic I, the music ministry will provide praise and worship through choral selections and praise dancing and a video presentation, documenting the church’s history, which dates back to 1834, will be displayed. This video highlights notable moments through candid interviews with clergy and members, one being a direct descendent to one of the church’s pioneers, as well as rare photos, footage and news article clippings, some dating back to 1945. The service will conclude with the rededication of the church’s newly renovated parsonage.

Community and church members will culminate the anniversary’s festivities at a banquet to be held at the Bethwood in Totowa from 5 p.m. – 10 p.m. Interviews and photo opportunities are available.

Located in Paterson, New Jersey, First A.M.E. Zion Church is the oldest African American Church in Passaic County. It is the cornerstone of spirituality and serves over 150 congregants in addition to providing spiritual, financial and emotional support to community members. It prides itself on promoting discipleship, stewardship, worship and fellowship.

NBA PRE DRAFT PARTY HONORS TOP DRAFT PICKS’ ADMITTANCE INTO NBA

NEW YORK – JUNE 22, 2009 - To celebrate the top draft picks’ admittance into the NBA, Buttah Sopht Entertainment, Imagen and Stacey Davis, writer for New York City Hoops and Rival.com, will host a star-studded event on Tuesday, June 23 from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. The affair, slated to take place two days before the official NBA Draft, will be held at New York City’s posh Taj Lounge, located at 48 West 21st Street and will showcase the NBA’s top draft picks: Ty Lawson, Wayne Ellington, Brandon Jennings, Tyreke Evans, Hasheem Thabeet, Earl Clark and Dajuan Blair. Among other celebrity athletes, special invited and confirmed guests are Lebron James, Wilson Chandler, Charles Oakley, Carmelo Anthony, Ben Gordon, Tiny Morton, head coach of Lincoln High School, Gerald Hayes, National Football Conference champion and Arizona Cardinals co-captain, Mike Adams, of the Cleveland Browns and Raheem Brock, co-captain of the Indianapolis Colts.


Music will be provided by Zeke, official NBA player dj, and a wrist watch from G3 Jewelry, a New York City based diamond jeweler and watch designer, will be auctioned at the party. Proceeds will go towards the Aids Center of Queens County.
